I visited one of my most visited websites www.dictionary.com to look up the word “Lifer” and see if I could find an appropriate definition. It turns out the site is missing one of my most used common explanations. It typilly refers to people stuck in prison or people who stay in the military for the duration of rest of their lives.

A lifer is essentially someone who does shleppy work. You might be a lifer (or actually, you are more likely to be one or become one if…) you dropped out of high school, you may have had a good job but now you’re so bored with it that people around you get sucked into your misery, and other reasons.
